Gale is a small area built around a beach, typically Portuguese.  Not heavily built up there are lots of vineyards surrounding the properties but still enough restaurants within walking distance for most- if not there is a reasonable taxi service or indeed some of the restaurants will collect you and take you home as part of their service. Gale has kept its traditional Portuguese feeling whilst catering for the needs of tourists with both local and bigger supermarkets in the area to fulfil all your daily shopping needs.  There are cafes dotted up and down the street where in the morning and early evening you may find the Portuguese drinking their Espresso or you may choose to wander down the block to Sao Dominoges coffee and cake shop, sit out on the terrace and enjoy one of their huge cakes with a milky coffee.   Gale has its own market once a month where you can barter for goods such as clothing, leather, shoes etc or even buy the fish freshly caught.
